2. Who Can Use MyGrind

Children under 13 cannot create their own MyGrind account. A child profile under 13 only exists when a parent on an active Family plan adds it through the parent's account.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information from Parents/Account Holders

Stripe stores the card. We receive only the last four digits and card brand for your reference inside the account dashboard. We never see or store your full card number.

5.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyGrind, our users, or others.

5.3 Business Transfers

6. Parental Rights and Controls

As the account holder, the parent or legal guardian has full control over their player's profile and data, including the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@mygrindapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

6.5 Children Under 13 (COPPA)

MyGrind supports parent-managed accounts for players under 13 on the Family plan. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") sets out specific rules for any service that collects personal information from a child under 13. This section explains exactly how those rules apply to MyGrind.

6.5.1 Information We Collect from Children Under 13

When a parent adds a child profile under 13 to their MyGrind Family account, we collect from or about that child:

We do not collect a separate email address, phone number, or login credential for a child under 13. The child uses the parent's account; there is no independent sign-up path for a child.

6.5.2 Verifiable Parental Consent

We use the parent's payment of an active Family plan subscription as verifiable parental consent. The parent enters card details with Stripe at signup, the charge is processed in the parent's name, and only after that charge succeeds does the parent gain access to add child profiles. The Federal Trade Commission recognizes a verified payment transaction as one of the listed methods for obtaining verifiable parental consent under 16 CFR § 312.5. This is the same approach used by Khan Academy Kids, ClassDojo, and Apple Family Sharing.

If the Family subscription lapses, no new child profiles can be added. Existing child data remains under the parent's exclusive control and the parent may still review or delete it at any time.

6.5.3 Parental Rights for Children Under 13

The parent or legal guardian who set up the Family account has, at all times, the right to:

We will not condition a child's participation in any activity on the child or parent disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary to use the Service.

6.5.4 Data Minimization for Children Under 13

We do not send marketing email or marketing SMS to any child under 13. We do not share, sell, or disclose a child's personal information to any third party for advertising or behavioral targeting. The only third parties that process a child's data are the service providers listed in Section 5.1 (Firebase for storage, and the operational vendors that keep the Service running). No child data is provided to Mailchimp.

A child's profile data is retained only while the parent's account holds the profile. When the parent deletes a child profile, we delete the profile document and every journal entry under it from Firestore.

To exercise these rights, email support@mygrindapp.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your information.

9. Data Retention

We retain account and player information for as long as the account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

10. SMS Communications

What we use SMS for: When a parent or account holder enters a player's mobile phone number on Screen 6 of the signup flow and presses "Send Invite," MyGrind sends a one-time SMS to the player containing the player's first name and a link to set up their profile. If the player does not have their own phone, the parent may enter their own mobile number instead, and the one-time invite or verification text is sent to the parent's phone. We may also send transactional notifications to the parent's own phone (for example, when a coach replies to a feedback request). MyGrind does not send marketing SMS.

Phone numbers we collect: Parent's mobile phone (entered during signup), player's mobile phone (entered by the parent on Screen 6), and coach or instructor phone numbers (entered by the player when sending a feedback request).

Consent: Phone numbers are submitted only after the parent or player has reviewed a confirmation screen, checked a standalone consent box agreeing to receive the messages, and explicitly tapped a Send button. We do not import phone numbers from third parties or auto-enroll users in SMS programs.

No sharing for marketing: Mobile opt-in phone numbers are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Frequency and rates: Message frequency varies based on use of the Service. Standard message and data rates may apply per your wireless carrier's plan.

Opt-out: Reply STOP to any MyGrind SMS to unsubscribe from further messages to that number. Reply HELP for support, or email support@mygrindapp.com. Opting out of SMS does not affect non-SMS use of the Service.

Retention: Phone numbers are stored for the duration of the active account. SMS delivery logs are retained by our messaging provider (Twilio) per their standard retention policy. We delete phone numbers from our records within 30 days of account deletion.

Carrier disclosure: Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

11. Cookies and Tracking

MyGrind uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may limit Service functionality.

12. Children's Privacy (Under 13)

Children under 13 use MyGrind only through a parent-managed profile on a Family plan, with the parent's verifiable consent obtained as described in Section 6.5. We do not allow a child under 13 to create their own account. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has obtained access without your consent, please contact us at support@mygrindapp.com and we will take steps to remove the access and delete the data.

13. International Users

MyGrind is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and post a prominent notice on the Service. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects when changes were made. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
